Well, sorry if that's the case, but I really was honored recently to take pictures of Melissa's family, her sister's family, and their parents. Here's why: Melissa and I have known each other for 15 years; we met in college. She's from California, I'm from Kentucky, the college was in Florida. We reconnected again in Georgia. And here's what's EVEN COOLER: Her parents went to school with my parents back in the '60's. So I was SO excited when she told me she wanted pictures of all of them.<br />
<br />
Here are a few of my favorites--isn't autumn the perfect time for family pictures?<br />
<br />

His family and my family go back now for three generations, so it's special that Cade's parents wanted me to document his sweeeeet newborn-ness. Poor sweetpea has some pretty serious tummy troubles, and he liked to gnaw on the blanket:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

We did manage to coax him into being pleasant... and I have a feeling he's got some deep thoughts knocking around behind those eyes...<br />

I have actually known Abby and TJ since 2007, when we first met to discuss me photographing their wedding. <a href="http://lindsayslens.blogspot.com/2008/06/abby-tj.html">Their 2008 wedding was the first I did after the birth of my second child Roxy</a>, so it is extra special to me that they called me to document Abby's own pregnancy and their newborn baby, once he or she arrives (they're not finding out the gender AND not telling anyone possible names, which I find really romantic).<br />
<br />
It's always thrilling to see a couple who are as happy to be expectant parents as they were to be a giddy bride or groom. I'd say Abby and TJ fit the bill on that front:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfjnJMbUMLx5S97fXJIUh8ZcRXnGjTcrbkpo7ifuJzwWmvEiUbVLUnFpJ9yIGFDlQ9e0y219f60p3l1yVlapVunKVBG5sy3LNagA-4tFhiElRfeLBCml7LnQtOC9n4n3evsXBu5LOReKvr/s1600/Abby-4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfjnJMbUMLx5S97fXJIUh8ZcRXnGjTcrbkpo7ifuJzwWmvEiUbVLUnFpJ9yIGFDlQ9e0y219f60p3l1yVlapVunKVBG5sy3LNagA-4tFhiElRfeLBCml7LnQtOC9n4n3evsXBu5LOReKvr/s400/Abby-4.jpg" width="267" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimHE10qYoloZSMgt_gpPxFvZQt2nB8S5hwph0la1FjPERJzodIPhy8vsCSpHXAZeSUNlczb6tapS-tjI6e-wnCP7RMl2SgpIOo71q6FQJOl67UoiifNxztwjt6110fHeBgKHUjG4up-Umc/s1600/Abby-5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimHE10qYoloZSMgt_gpPxFvZQt2nB8S5hwph0la1FjPERJzodIPhy8vsCSpHXAZeSUNlczb6tapS-tjI6e-wnCP7RMl2SgpIOo71q6FQJOl67UoiifNxztwjt6110fHeBgKHUjG4up-Umc/s400/Abby-5.jpg" width="267" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifzlLSH6q19hydTn-xRhg8welelf5qVDiipiUUOKUA7NT7w7p3urKBC_UNhfGwOx_oNMIbhys1iwjuRYNZQZv6m51dnfk6WuGcL-L5_iqVzuBo8awTymJHcpBBc5fZDWO_2v5hFvciCT_Y/s1600/Abby-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifzlLSH6q19hydTn-xRhg8welelf5qVDiipiUUOKUA7NT7w7p3urKBC_UNhfGwOx_oNMIbhys1iwjuRYNZQZv6m51dnfk6WuGcL-L5_iqVzuBo8awTymJHcpBBc5fZDWO_2v5hFvciCT_Y/s400/Abby-2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>Isn't Abby lovely?<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7IEEPtqLTVKCKUNYBFzp6Xu5erZE9udH1Lp2-wAqP_KegaQQa874xBMyjc5G1Q2yKnyINITxX8FPEkSpSAgKraClDPM6UGH_05WLHKXxsh1I-e41ixKruRgMNH3FlpYK9SxZYjAdOuama/s1600/Abby-7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7IEEPtqLTVKCKUNYBFzp6Xu5erZE9udH1Lp2-wAqP_KegaQQa874xBMyjc5G1Q2yKnyINITxX8FPEkSpSAgKraClDPM6UGH_05WLHKXxsh1I-e41ixKruRgMNH3FlpYK9SxZYjAdOuama/s400/Abby-7.jpg" width="267" /></a></div><br />
<br />
As a bride, Abby was way ahead of her time in wanting her wedding to be as environmentally friendly as possible. So you can imagine how excited she is about the 'greening' of her baby's room!<br />

I know and adore her Auntie Cathryn so I was excited to spend a little time with this sweet little two-month old and her parents Amanda and Mike. Baby Annaleigh has some sweet digs to call home, so we'll start there. Check out the flowers above her crib...<br />

</div>A year ago today I walked in to a particularly cute little Starbucks to meet my friend Jessica. She had an idea for a new photography company and wanted to talk to me about it. I was all dressed up. I had on a really cute denim bubble skirt and my <a href="http://lindsayslens.blogspot.com/2008/12/word-of-thanks.html">adorable yellow shoes</a>. I had my laptop and smartphone all ready to do SERIOUS BUSINESS with my SERIOUS PHOTOGRAPHER FRIEND Jessica.<br />
<br />
I'm pretty sure she stifled a laugh when she saw me. She just wanted to talk about this idea, for this specialty photography company that wasn't like anything else in Atlanta children's photography. And she wanted to have fun.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCFpv2JSxOo8QY9y4M1UdOcDcuQ8PWjFliMBy9UHj16MBZdjPU8GmEbjzYwy-8NYWURLuHBDjbxMPbz70n7jjUDomJHNiIzVjbHBjaWj7Ze3S0Mll4DYVVDf8NxTq7YrwbtE0T6oB40NuN/s1600-h/jess+and+me.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCFpv2JSxOo8QY9y4M1UdOcDcuQ8PWjFliMBy9UHj16MBZdjPU8GmEbjzYwy-8NYWURLuHBDjbxMPbz70n7jjUDomJHNiIzVjbHBjaWj7Ze3S0Mll4DYVVDf8NxTq7YrwbtE0T6oB40NuN/s320/jess+and+me.jpg" /></a>And we did have fun. A lot of fun. But we also started to do some serious work on this little portrait party idea. Within a month we had a business plan, a name, and a logo, plus a party on the schedule. <br />
<br />
We launched SweetSnaps less than two months after that first meeting. We started booking parties and got so much support from businesses like <a href="http://www.chocolatepinkcafe.com/">Chocolate Pink</a> and <a href="http://www.greenesfinefoods.com/">Greene's Fine Foods</a>. We merged our wedding businesses under Sublime a month after that. We were <a href="http://www.cbsatlanta.com/video/19565380/index.html">on TV</a>. We were published. And published. And published again. We traveled. We got coverage in <a href="http://www.dailycandy.com/kids/atlanta/article/78321/SweetSnaps-Portrait-Parties">Daily Candy</a> and, well sort of all over the place. Amazing.<br />
<br />
In short, we've been blown away with how well-received this idea was, this idea that barely existed a year ago. And how much support we've gotten from family, friends, and cheerleaders we didn't even n. And how happy people are to have beautiful memories of their children.<br />
<br />
So today we celebrate out anniversary, sort of. The paper anniversary--maybe the photographic paper anniversary? It's been a GREAT year. And there's still so much more to do--so many more people who need SweetSnaps in their lives. So, onward!<br />
<br />
And Jessica, it's okay if you still laugh a little when I'm overdressed. It happens alot, so I'm used to it. And I still love you.<br />
<br />
Dolcemente,<br />

We got a great early Christmas present this morning when, lo and behold, we found <a href="http://www.sweetsnapsphoto.com">SweetSnaps</a> featured on <a href="http://www.dailycandy.com/kids/atlanta/article/78321/SweetSnaps-Portrait-Parties">Atlanta's Daily Candy Kids edition</a>. I also have a collection of hand-written recipes that are constantly getting misplaced--some of them are in my grandmother's handwriting and my heart always stops a bit when I can't put my hands on them immediately.<br /><br />In other words, my recipe collection is a mess.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYDD6-53l4UXSBiLjnhcZ5QQO0O-YI3sBETM5ArdLrqW4knRO1-Ee-Prs43D6hImooVvyPBsypDaf2F_2MHec7VMV4iOmgky4f_XCizyONXLBZAaBoD3MsV7hcHumEKPiPst81MZFLqiEm/s1600-h/tastebook+logo_2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 194px; height: 57px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYDD6-53l4UXSBiLjnhcZ5QQO0O-YI3sBETM5ArdLrqW4knRO1-Ee-Prs43D6hImooVvyPBsypDaf2F_2MHec7VMV4iOmgky4f_XCizyONXLBZAaBoD3MsV7hcHumEKPiPst81MZFLqiEm/s400/tastebook+logo_2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412943531427495314" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Enter <a href="http://www.tastebook.com">TasteBook</a>. On their site, you can make your own books of your favorite recipes. First you pick a pretty cover, and I must say their photography choices are really beautiful. Then you enter your own recipes and directions, or search from the archives of Food Network, Better Homes & Gardens, Epicurious or a number of other great cooking sites. TasteBook saves them in your account, publishes the book and sends it right to your door. It's so easy to buy identical copies or to mix things up and personalize each one. <br /><br />What a great option for Christmas or anniversary or really, any other special occasion! Merging all your family recipes is a great way to make an heirloom, and these are really beautiful enough to be handed down generation-to-generation. You can do a dedication page and they come gorgeously wrapped. Try it... tastes good to me!<br /><br />Dolcemente,<br />LindsayLindsay Masthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14729204842467293944noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1547204946187795039.post-40596358462703913972009-12-03T14:27:00.000-05:002009-12-08T14:44:36.073-05:00Quotable KidsHow many times have you doubled over laughing at something your child said, then couldn't remember the exact wording when you were trying to tell your husband or your mother? I find it so frustrating that my mom brain won't record the very things that make this journey so enjoyable!<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9Hx4Xt02fKYArrPOs4NEj7wUF3hdWnssihTu4xKLk6kz4zsTqtW1hH7Kd0x1kjbmKMKRwwfZgS0BXR7X90aT_8w1pa8YP2H4mjFkcTkkgOSsuxydG-G3b6ohrAZZXTQ_ElSBscUuXXl8G/s1600-h/quotable+kid.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 285px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9Hx4Xt02fKYArrPOs4NEj7wUF3hdWnssihTu4xKLk6kz4zsTqtW1hH7Kd0x1kjbmKMKRwwfZgS0BXR7X90aT_8w1pa8YP2H4mjFkcTkkgOSsuxydG-G3b6ohrAZZXTQ_ElSBscUuXXl8G/s400/quotable+kid.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412953088328450370" border="0" /></a>Now there's a book made specifically for remembering what my silly mind just can't hold onto. <a href="http://www.chroniclebooks.com/index/main,book-info/store,books/products_id,8016/title,My-Quotable-Kid/">My Quotable Kid</a> basically picks up where the baby book leaves off. It has a place for a picture (lest you forget even which kid you are writing about--just kidding) and then quote bubbles to write in.<br /><br />Or you could do what some tech-savvy moms I know do, which is to start a Twitter account to record and share what your cuties say. You can even publish that--with <a href="http://www.tweetbookz.com/">Tweetbookz</a>! I love, love, love this idea. I started a Twitter for my kids but haven't been good about keeping up with it. Now I have some motivation.<br /><br />Here's what a book using my <a href="http://www.twitter.com/sweetsnaps">SweetSnaps Twitter </a>account would look like. Seriously, I think I'm in love.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht16YVi_9wMwTXW3I7aotUUDPEme8CK5zl6AjhHjUbC0ICqSrlarvJmX1NQgd4FLmlviwxGG_3BcJvybJtSRG3gKZ3iYNRP93NMhwLZPNuKfB52rgo2DZ9vE3z0zXaNypzrImhBvIosVvO/s1600-h/TweetBookz+-+print+high+quality+books+of+tweets+from+any+Twitter+account%21_1260300943973.png"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 208px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEht16YVi_9wMwTXW3I7aotUUDPEme8CK5zl6AjhHjUbC0ICqSrlarvJmX1NQgd4FLmlviwxGG_3BcJvybJtSRG3gKZ3iYNRP93NMhwLZPNuKfB52rgo2DZ9vE3z0zXaNypzrImhBvIosVvO/s400/TweetBookz+-+print+high+quality+books+of+tweets+from+any+Twitter+account%21_1260300943973.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412952785489500914" border="0" /></a>However you choose to do it, happy remembering! Let's look ahead to 2010, shall we? I have calendars on my phone, my computer and everywhere else I look, but I do love a good and stylish wall calendar. I've found one of the best selections at <a href="http://www.heliotropehome.com/">Heliotrope</a> in Decatur. Thought I'd share some of them with you. I love these because I also see so many possibilities for them as art in my home once their time has past, so to speak.<br /><br />I like <a href="http://store.heliotropehome.com/20caswtreaca.html">this one</a> because it reminds me of SweetSnaps. And because it's vintage-y. Oh yeah, and because I love to eat cake.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX7soPYtmE940cyxW_9NqG2RpvV1AlFqJH0ZPw2EnlYjeJeF0dku9ahyphenhyphengzXNcQ1-2WFp6UVd9nSOD09_sS2NiUntVXw2U3nDkbplPR5RpenJqxzmUpk3_hd0gtEuiLQGCF9Gcr1aNqP4aq/s1600-h/sweet+calendar.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 308px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhX7soPYtmE940cyxW_9NqG2RpvV1AlFqJH0ZPw2EnlYjeJeF0dku9ahyphenhyphengzXNcQ1-2WFp6UVd9nSOD09_sS2NiUntVXw2U3nDkbplPR5RpenJqxzmUpk3_hd0gtEuiLQGCF9Gcr1aNqP4aq/s400/sweet+calendar.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412957268482275618" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Sometimes I need a little <a href="http://store.heliotropehome.com/20glwacabbyh.html">glam in my life</a>, don't you? And I'm sure that, like me, there are days where you feel decidedly un-glam. But if you can't manage some glam, at least your calendar can. Although, can someone tell me what's up with the random Clooney pic? <br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_987lup3Z1vQA_2YLDPeXdD4jdG_5A57zDL6uKX-U_z-JTgDoLTcTUy9rxSGtatkN9_YeJV-_VFSdkxLlfXwTOZ8f7RUXPBksREHSVckD2CSsr9efZFF94fnnO41cLBuDAXIsi_nnQxqa/s1600-h/glam.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_987lup3Z1vQA_2YLDPeXdD4jdG_5A57zDL6uKX-U_z-JTgDoLTcTUy9rxSGtatkN9_YeJV-_VFSdkxLlfXwTOZ8f7RUXPBksREHSVckD2CSsr9efZFF94fnnO41cLBuDAXIsi_nnQxqa/s400/glam.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412959553148917666" /></a><br /><br />Birds were everywhere in 2009, so if you're over birds, how about <a href="http://store.heliotropehome.com/20owlpucabby.html">The Owl and the Pussycat calendar</a>? I think this one is so cute and perfect for anyone with a cat in the house too.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIymGFpYsogCXcUIpoLuWmCDnnuJX2g1klcRkc5WqEcXrsx1mpu1zddA6RtrSRI9P5wMg6cbmCoQ4iM5i9RRWfw0yc0wJcP3hd_jHTWM2T-3saJ499LmN5ZThmXr8jRkfnw99_QbL2cgkL/s1600-h/owl+calendar.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 369px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhIymGFpYsogCXcUIpoLuWmCDnnuJX2g1klcRkc5WqEcXrsx1mpu1zddA6RtrSRI9P5wMg6cbmCoQ4iM5i9RRWfw0yc0wJcP3hd_jHTWM2T-3saJ499LmN5ZThmXr8jRkfnw99_QbL2cgkL/s400/owl+calendar.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412958414007469762" /></a><br /><br />There's tons more to choose from at <a href="http://store.heliotropehome.com/index.html">Heliotrope</a> and the other boutiques around Atlanta, so get shopping! Or, put them on your Christmas list. I love having had the opportunity to document these kids for over a year now. They just keep getting cuter!!!<br /><br />Last year, Sophia was NOT keen on the camera at all. This year, though, she was just so charming and smiley. I'd be smiling if I had on that cute button dress, too, Sophia.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpmAl9J59vJ6IYw2tAJRym24lMcS_XECaLCqEY2NsdInMU3-bBvfliHKIDM8u6bMm7hWLmWfKcvVbDC-cNzmI1q5gQmzz6b7uS4AgtU9joRJLM-217jQH2u_Pqmt3QLuNY0VpvJ2NqzkwU/s1600/diana-5.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 268px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpmAl9J59vJ6IYw2tAJRym24lMcS_XECaLCqEY2NsdInMU3-bBvfliHKIDM8u6bMm7hWLmWfKcvVbDC-cNzmI1q5gQmzz6b7uS4AgtU9joRJLM-217jQH2u_Pqmt3QLuNY0VpvJ2NqzkwU/s400/diana-5.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407694435604516690" border="0" /></a>What a gorgeous child. Still, I love this picture cause you can see he's still got some baby-ness about him--check the pouty lips. I suspect that next year, at 3.5, he will be much more little boy. Sorry, Diana. :(<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjGTkDYhqUCyCzUlM6nCO97e4u36tOayCEsX6U1PO7rY9Vl7J8hNErG-AZbaffu97f3MgCd5Xuy3eZyn7uENdOQ657GkDGcFvE2MZ4QqyLNMTksW31rYEgsopOVo-Pxhpfg6eJBdk5eQ3F/s1600/diana-3.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 268px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgjGTkDYhqUCyCzUlM6nCO97e4u36tOayCEsX6U1PO7rY9Vl7J8hNErG-AZbaffu97f3MgCd5Xuy3eZyn7uENdOQ657GkDGcFvE2MZ4QqyLNMTksW31rYEgsopOVo-Pxhpfg6eJBdk5eQ3F/s400/diana-3.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407694432272226338" border="0" /></a>A nice moment between Cole and his daddy Cash.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzJiMvvrD-an5RforP8h87uUby12jpm2YPCqItnQMD_4eOEC-C6RwVqhcya1Y2tMqm1gAZtSvL2js3UIt7NbpvoHFhMrb53naF728Fh-1ZUv7Km6_RZGkN55Lc9XO1Jb1qs0mEPtch3ceL/s1600/diana-2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzJiMvvrD-an5RforP8h87uUby12jpm2YPCqItnQMD_4eOEC-C6RwVqhcya1Y2tMqm1gAZtSvL2js3UIt7NbpvoHFhMrb53naF728Fh-1ZUv7Km6_RZGkN55Lc9XO1Jb1qs0mEPtch3ceL/s400/diana-2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407694429197311330" border="0" /></a>And another nice mother-daughter moment.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2gi7wVyuJlO0ORaxe9a5Zx9o1v5crBsb8kfzBQsh6P1FBNniKtdUY_x4zB18CifCRZV4G4XOg7BYevZvF9KWzT7WxOqP36q7q2qe53mpHn9r53HTNRMvx-jgpciWGiQpypYRtL1AWUsm_/s1600/diana-6.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 268px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2gi7wVyuJlO0ORaxe9a5Zx9o1v5crBsb8kfzBQsh6P1FBNniKtdUY_x4zB18CifCRZV4G4XOg7BYevZvF9KWzT7WxOqP36q7q2qe53mpHn9r53HTNRMvx-jgpciWGiQpypYRtL1AWUsm_/s400/diana-6.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5407694443262266946" border="0" /></a>And I really love this one, this time of just the Diana and Cash--I suspect this one will go in Cash's office... aren't they a beautiful couple? Amy and Vinnie often put me up in their adorable house, cook wonderful homey meals for me, and keep my kids entertained with their children, chicken, and toys. In return, I try to take a few pictures of their beautiful family. Here are some I took during my recent trip to see them.<br /><br />Their baby Claire has grown sooooo much since I last saw them. She is still a cutie, though.<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgezbydqpHhIlNiJe-mxZvkFO5MoQlQOD9ucT2zA85jE1UkziaVb_OV4GNFql7q3MDGRlTESZDgG0vecf3o1_VULnFUwTBCA0txmDKZmwiHdCOAB_vZ15XLfEpkccjawlc6A6IfgqI1WWLT/s1600-h/20091107-DSC_0498-10.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 268px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgezbydqpHhIlNiJe-mxZvkFO5MoQlQOD9ucT2zA85jE1UkziaVb_OV4GNFql7q3MDGRlTESZDgG0vecf3o1_VULnFUwTBCA0txmDKZmwiHdCOAB_vZ15XLfEpkccjawlc6A6IfgqI1WWLT/s400/20091107-DSC_0498-10.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5404069330801865202" border="0" /></a>Emma doesn't love the camera, but she does seem to like me, so we had some fun.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUtlhjACcHYetpt2M1M5JgwCYsX7JnHVc_hczH-ssRmCf5G0FzBnhfdpqN0O2H7I9dYqv9Sl4Lub_EWo8BYoL9Z6VlI3pEOnm6L_e4p89_KKSoGHDGILew5FQ9v4NWmYf06_kdhUwHEQyb/s1600-h/20091106-DSC_0489-9.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 268px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiUtlhjACcHYetpt2M1M5JgwCYsX7JnHVc_hczH-ssRmCf5G0FzBnhfdpqN0O2H7I9dYqv9Sl4Lub_EWo8BYoL9Z6VlI3pEOnm6L_e4p89_KKSoGHDGILew5FQ9v4NWmYf06_kdhUwHEQyb/s400/20091106-DSC_0489-9.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5404069330804932034" border="0" /></a>I love this one of her... it shows the sweet mischief behind that angelic face.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQQd7orO28wwNW_bYQlDemrfNCQ9J4dxqrS_Ujksb73fTZBsQmsyHH_VrM4nTRT2_0WnautZ38UCkJTDy4-yeAMftBTmKJGKATf3JzIINp7UKtJLyBQEAIX_uNw6P3XxafSWykG2lam0Ug/s1600-h/20091106-DSC_0488-8.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 268px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQQd7orO28wwNW_bYQlDemrfNCQ9J4dxqrS_Ujksb73fTZBsQmsyHH_VrM4nTRT2_0WnautZ38UCkJTDy4-yeAMftBTmKJGKATf3JzIINp7UKtJLyBQEAIX_uNw6P3XxafSWykG2lam0Ug/s400/20091106-DSC_0488-8.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5404069324388971042" border="0" /></a>Sisters. It's Brilliant!If you're like most families. your time with extended family probably means travel of some sort, if not, like my own case, travel to potentially five different states just to see all the grandparents and aunts and uncles. I always stand in the playroom the morning of a trip, trying desperately to prophesy which toys will keep my kids entertained in the car from Atlanta, during the visit at a different, usually un-childproofed home, and on the trip back to Georgia.<br /><br />I always pick wrong.<br /><br />Enter <a href="http://mybusybucket.com">My Busy Bucket</a>. My friend Kim recently told me about this company and described it as Netflix for Toys. And she's right! You can contact <a href="http://mybusybucket.com">My Busy Bucket</a>, and they'll send buckets of toys to your home--or, in my case, your vacation spot. They come all pretty and sanitized, and when you're done, you just package them back up and poof! All done. GENIUS. <br /><br />Let's say you don't have a lot of storage space in your house but hate to just trash unused toys, or if you find yourself sick of buying toys only to find your child just doesn't like to play with it, you can get an account and within days, you have a big ole box of toys on your doorstep. You can send it back in one month, two months, or if you want to keep it you can, so long as you keep paying the monthly fee.<br /><br />Here are just a few examples of the kinds of toys you might find in a bucket. There are baby buckets, princess buckets, music buckets, pirate buckets... you name it, they've got it. Every bucket has over $200 worth of toys in it, so it's PLAYTIME, FOLKS!!!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrcAqW3uCv5CJfevTALhw-K7CLA2V8wgEJiF7-NGygFhoz71Zfnehh0AZyWXM8CzXsrh9eQv_AdbZSONhnHI6V6XLAf0lhCITd0NHkmyfUmeH8rsYVYNzIYrlDMYrRfK2hLrmzR6dL16ut/s1600-h/mixed+age+0-1.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 220px; height: 220px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrcAqW3uCv5CJfevTALhw-K7CLA2V8wgEJiF7-NGygFhoz71Zfnehh0AZyWXM8CzXsrh9eQv_AdbZSONhnHI6V6XLAf0lhCITd0NHkmyfUmeH8rsYVYNzIYrlDMYrRfK2hLrmzR6dL16ut/s400/mixed+age+0-1.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5393376436748460722" border="0"></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIKvcO_g8UwYulgdVfXrOBQe2Q4F_JaxOECAGnYoAEFWcBgcq2e2ljO5VUPmE4tNhgE6tyJZZTymQBsvdJ5RSV-b-gNAa7tyW8Fjmw7sFSpZClJxVW9SUcGL3RVxQ4fSYovRG2yq0u6kA8/s1600-h/mixed+0-1+generic.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 220px; height: 220px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIKvcO_g8UwYulgdVfXrOBQe2Q4F_JaxOECAGnYoAEFWcBgcq2e2ljO5VUPmE4tNhgE6tyJZZTymQBsvdJ5RSV-b-gNAa7tyW8Fjmw7sFSpZClJxVW9SUcGL3RVxQ4fSYovRG2yq0u6kA8/s400/mixed+0-1+generic.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5393376435717518546" border="0"></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtCOrnPy5ldo2jixSoZxVmIORqEzOfSqo-rcw9rjHRLDylwyykxQKKdHtsPENi-JuWBXhMoCSXL4gR20aE1HwfEfivVPfRiijoWv3hlKyy6dkZx7mCuJJOdZVpQWzqg9WXmK1ZwKA2C6A8/s1600-h/mbb+3-6+princess.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtCOrnPy5ldo2jixSoZxVmIORqEzOfSqo-rcw9rjHRLDylwyykxQKKdHtsPENi-JuWBXhMoCSXL4gR20aE1HwfEfivVPfRiijoWv3hlKyy6dkZx7mCuJJOdZVpQWzqg9WXmK1ZwKA2C6A8/s400/mbb+3-6+princess.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5393376424760269474" border="0"></a><br /><br />I can't wait to try this out when we visit my parents. I've been anxious to put my girls (ages: almost 4 and almost 2) in the same room for sleeping so I can a) take back the nursery as my office which will allow me to b) enlarge their play area. Ada, my 3 year old, has been desperate for a roomie because, in her words, she gets "lonely from sleeping." So we made the move Friday night, and so far Roxy seems to be sleeping about the same (she's an early riser, always has been). Problem is, they both have a little more trouble going to sleep and when Roxy gets up in the morning she gets Ada up too. So by noon every day I have two complete sourpusses on my hands.<br /><br />What should I do? Keep them together a few more days and see if it works itself out? Or separate them and try again in a few months? I'd love to have my office back but well-rested and pleasant family members are a bigger priority for me... Any advice from seasoned parents???<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBsc-rRIbUY67aWWdpym7rDRl12oi3XozlrbBlNEU5vEe6bZaYT9YJRF1-UC2WVRQxJqpRWgQx5zY_pVB_YmfLOdLm7fFmHYuIQxblFbI0MUo5HHSyBdM6f1CYjLEUqC_UCnmBJ-oO-XDY/s1600-h/roxy+sleep.htm"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBsc-rRIbUY67aWWdpym7rDRl12oi3XozlrbBlNEU5vEe6bZaYT9YJRF1-UC2WVRQxJqpRWgQx5zY_pVB_YmfLOdLm7fFmHYuIQxblFbI0MUo5HHSyBdM6f1CYjLEUqC_UCnmBJ-oO-XDY/s400/roxy+sleep.htm" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5373948052227397602" border="0" /></a><span style="font-style: italic;">this is what i want. but in the bed. and two of them. sleeping just like this.</span><br /></div><br />LindsayLindsay Masthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14729204842467293944noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1547204946187795039.post-58736300703367248192009-08-05T16:35:00.001-04:002009-08-05T16:37:44.327-04:00Fab'rik for RockstarsEvery year, going back to school shopping was such an exciting time. Even now, when August rolls around, it’ s like I’m being magnetically drawn to the mall. I was fashion-conscious even then so it was a great time (most certainly less great for my mother and her wallet.) I think this fall has got to be hard for so many teenage girls, in families where jobs have been lost and money is scarily tight.<br /><br />So you can imagine how Jessica and I jumped at the chance when my friend Kim called and asked us to be part of the Fab’rik for Rockstars event. Teens in need will descend on <a href="http://www.fabrikstyle.com">Fab’rik Midtown</a> Saturday morning to shop new and gently used fashions for back-to-school. There will be a DJ, a red carpet, and we’ll be there taking pictures!<br /><br />If you know someone who might benefit from this benefit, or if you’d like to volunteer, see the information below. We’ll post pictures after the event!<br /><br />Dolcemente,<br />Lindsay<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjhK4bH5eVnGBk_OPYPPrl-ph1lsKd2HecjM2NRVfyBqv-RUtZs23lGxyn9vXKj0f0gQDd0nSjXb-hN60GcBxwr5DFYjkBhV40tURMHdKp5W_AmUCuopm58k6SNMqu6vXNztYDD0-S3_RM/s1600-h/callforclothes%5B2%5D.JPG"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 359px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjhK4bH5eVnGBk_OPYPPrl-ph1lsKd2HecjM2NRVfyBqv-RUtZs23lGxyn9vXKj0f0gQDd0nSjXb-hN60GcBxwr5DFYjkBhV40tURMHdKp5W_AmUCuopm58k6SNMqu6vXNztYDD0-S3_RM/s400/callforclothes%5B2%5D.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5366581252419237698" /></a>Lindsay Masthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14729204842467293944noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1547204946187795039.post-85311534753672639102009-07-09T12:04:00.003-04:002009-07-09T12:24:43.709-04:00Gorgeous Head Shot SessionJessica and I got to do something a little different recently. You've heard of our <a href="http://sweetsnaps.blogspot.com/2009/03/sweet-spot-balance-atlanta-family.html">good friend Dr. Caroline</a>. Well, she is in the middle of a major social media makeover, and picked us to do her headshots for her upcoming <a href="http://www.balanceatlanta.com">new website</a> and blog. We are generally lifestyle photographers, but agreed to do it cause we are just so crazy about her and the good work she does for healthy moms and kids. And we are just as nuts about the pictures we got! This one is her favorite, and probably mine too. Doesn't she look like an author of a really great book? Who knows... with this picture, she just might be one, someday!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1RU2n7RD464YzH5Jd8pz5Wc1Rts5YfVN1YnncBSreplD8Gq7Z0mEmaVvxvbjfeSaV1W4aQnw3E4rpmBOapKpZl9qR0rM_d06yUk-INlsI1ab1kmFSRGYvkF-xNnQ0BEF9ejJB2dgwc0uX/s1600-h/dr+caroline.htm"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 205px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1RU2n7RD464YzH5Jd8pz5Wc1Rts5YfVN1YnncBSreplD8Gq7Z0mEmaVvxvbjfeSaV1W4aQnw3E4rpmBOapKpZl9qR0rM_d06yUk-INlsI1ab1kmFSRGYvkF-xNnQ0BEF9ejJB2dgwc0uX/s400/dr+caroline.htm" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356495617485206946" /></a><br /><br />Keep workin' it, Dr. C.<br />LindsayLindsay Masthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14729204842467293944noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1547204946187795039.post-18851786199824519152009-07-02T14:51:00.002-04:002009-07-02T15:48:06.053-04:00Special 4th of July SweetnessI love the 4th of July. So many great traditions...kids running around in swimsuits, that grilled meat smell wafting from the backyard, and more food than you can shake a stick at. Charm, personality, family-friendly activities abound here. It's so cute--the Hollywood folk even come out here often to shoot movies. One of my favorite places in the city is <a href="http://www.greenesfinefoods.com/">Greene's Fine Foods</a>, a gourmet candy shop right near the square. We were part of an event there in the spring, and I wanted to do a profile on them because they are great people with a really great store. Here's my interview with co-owner Harvin Greene.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmrWAaNGkJ9PjuV9YqFwc36egxdOgUrbo5hZvvyQEXSpbvqXNXtdag2zoL7ZOnpWkey-y21CBC6o6D2YhFhS_gVbfZaS3FqChFLa7teIRRNp57IgRT2cMJxCVSz6AEvKF9zO1x5x8yCNnV/s1600-h/harvin.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 268px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmrWAaNGkJ9PjuV9YqFwc36egxdOgUrbo5hZvvyQEXSpbvqXNXtdag2zoL7ZOnpWkey-y21CBC6o6D2YhFhS_gVbfZaS3FqChFLa7teIRRNp57IgRT2cMJxCVSz6AEvKF9zO1x5x8yCNnV/s400/harvin.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346772726361194226" border="0" /></a><span style="font-size:85%;"><span style="font-style: italic;">How many licks would it take to get to the center of THAT lollipop?!?!</span><br /></span></div><br />1. You've got a really unique store with AMAZING goodies. What got you into the candy biz?<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">My husband’s family has been in the candy and nut business for the last 25 years in Augusta, GA. Their business has evolved over the years into a seasonal, corporate gift company specializing in Georgia Pecans. We knew there was opportunity here to expand on that business and make it bigger. We had been searching for the right space for several years and when we found the old Post Office, we all knew it was just perfect!<br /></span><br />2. I love your space and your decorating style--particularly the fun couches you've got in the area by your fireplace. What inspires you?<br /><span style="font-style: italic;"><br />Thank you. FUN is truly my inspiration. How many times do you get to design a candy store, especially one in such a stoic and formal building?! I wanted people to gasp when they walk in as it is not at all what they expected. Over the top was the only way to go and it all just works…from the stark white walls and the huge green stripes everywhere, it just makes you feel good… kinda like candy!</span><br /><br />3. Any interesting stories behind the pieces in your store? That fire engine is certainly unique!<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">We purchased the fire engine from a company that restores kiddy rides, we wanted something vintage and fun for the kids. The paintings in the kid’s room are all by my Mother, they were her kind and generous contribution to the store. We also have a huge (like 500 pounds huge), amazing piece of marble that was taken off the building during the renovation that we are hoping to have created into a table for the store at some point. We also were able to salvage the “Greene’s” sign from the original Greene’s Fine Foods which was an institution in Augusta for 30+ years. It was a famous seafood restaurant owned by my husband’s grandparents. The sign is old and rusted and gorgeous, we are planning to hang it on the front of the building soon.</span><br /><br />4. You host a lot of kids' parties. What makes those so fun?<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">The birthday parties have been a hit! We were not planning to start having them so early on but the demand was just too high. We can cater to all ages and do fun things like let the kids make chocolate lollipops and candy necklaces. We are always willing to work with the parents to incorporate a theme and make it special for each child. We also do a lot of tours for schools, Girl Scouts and Boy Scout groups. For those children we try to incorporate a message about owning a business, being a partner in the community and the historic significance of the building.</span><br /><br />5. It's Saturday--what are you and your kids up to?<br /><span style="font-style: italic;"><br />Well, having your parents own a candy store is pretty cool thing for a Kindergartener and my older daughter just loves being there. In fact, we keep her apron hanging in the fudge area so she can help out while she is in the store. We usually stop in to check on things and be sure that the store is ready for all the events of the day. After that, if I do not get sucked into the store for too long, we usually go out to lunch in Decatur. After that I run shuttles to various birthday parties and playdates…same thing as every other mom!</span><br /><br />6. I grew up on Snickers and M&M's, but now I'm kind of a chocolate snob. You're an expert--what makes great candy so great?<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">I think the difference is everything we have is fresh; we melt our own chocolates and dip everything by hand. The things we don’t make in store have been very carefully chosen. Like the Pralines we sell, they are made by a little lady named Nana with an original family recipe, by hand. We get a lot of requests for sugar free chocolates. We have tasted hundreds of different ones and none of them taste good, we would rather not sell it unless we think it is the best! We are still on the lookout but to us quality is our number one priority!<br /></span><br />7. People who live and work in Decatur are fiercely loyal to it. What do you like best about it?<br /><br /><span style="font-style: italic;">Decatur has been amazing! We are so pleased with our choice of location. While we still have lots of new people coming in the store everyday we have our “regulars” that we adore and are so grateful for. The first day we opened we had 500 people in the store which speaks volumes about the support of the community. We hope we can continue to have the love and loyalty of the people of Decatur for many years to come!</span><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.greenesfinefoods.com/images/greenesfinefoods.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 322px; height: 155px;" src="http://www.greenesfinefoods.com/images/greenesfinefoods.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a>Swing by <a href="http://www.greenesfinefoods.com/">Greene's</a> for a good time, just be prepared to deal with the sugar rush when your kids get their hands on the delicious candy! They have great gifts for Father's Day, as well as book signings and other events coming up. Tell 'em SweetSnaps sent ya!<br /><br />LindsayLindsay Masthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14729204842467293944noreply@blogger.com0
