Commenting: A How-To

So, if you're reading our blog, you know we like to talk. A lot. But wouldn't it be rude if you never got a chance to talk too? We are far more well-bred than that. In fact, we love to read your comments! It lets us know you're not sleeping in class, that we're not totally boring and that you enjoy what we're writing for you to read.

So we wanted to take this opportunity to make sure you know how you go about commenting. I know from my experience with Lindsay's Lens that commenting can be tricky--my most faithful readers have trouble commenting (Hi Mom and Dad!).

So, here goes.

The button at the bottom of each post that tells you how many comments have been made is also the one you click to read those comments and to post one of your own.

Once you have clicked that, you will go to a page that has the post on it, and a comment form below. It looks like this:

You can also see the comments other people have made. Our comments are sponsored by a program called Intense Debate--we chose it because it makes it so easy to comment!
You can comment easily by typing your comment and name. You may choose to enter your email if you'd like to receive other people's comments via email. You can also post your web address, so if you have a blog other people can find it more easily and leave you some comments, too. We bloggers like to show comment love to our blogging friends.

There is also an option to join Intense Debate, and if you're going to leave a lot of comments on our blog (yes, please), you may want to do that. Here's what joining Intense Debate offers to you (according to them):

* Link up with people who make comments on your favorite blogs
* Market yourself by providing links to your facebook, twitter, and other accounts
* Gain readership to your blog or website
* Allow friends to track your comments across all blogs using ID Comments

There are other options--you can give someone's comment a thumbs up or thumbs down, you can comment directly on someone else's comment, and you can check out the Intense Debate profiles of your fellow commenters. Play around with it; I think you'll like it.

We've tried to make it easy for you to leave your thoughts. So please, let us know what you think!

Without getting all mushy, I do want to express how much we appreciate all of you who are checking the blog regularly, whether you are commenting or not, or whether you are making remarks to us personally, via Facebook, or by email. We are working hard to make it a fun place to hang out on the web, and hope you'll visit us often!

Dolcemente,
Lindsay
